This course will train course developers to design, plan, and develop course materials using the instructional project management approach. It is an online, interactive course, at the end of which course developers will have completed the development of the course they were contracted to develop, in an online community of their peers. The course approaches course development in three phases: design, development and review, focusing on the goals and objectives of instruction, instructional strategies and instructional media, course assessment and review. Attention will be paid to the three domains of learning rather than emphasizing solely the cognitive domain. The course also addresses competency-based approaches to course design and development. The approach used in the course will be reflected in the materials developed to guide the course development process. In its design, this course also models the processes to be followed in each phase of course development using the instructional project management approach.
