This course will train course developers to design, plan, and develop course materials using the instructional project management approach. It is an online, interactive course, at the end of which course developers will have completed the development of the course they were contracted to develop, in an online community of their peers. The course approaches course development in three phases: design, development and review, focusing on the goals and objectives of instruction, instructional strategies and instructional media, course assessment and review. Attention will be paid to the three domains of learning rather than emphasizing solely the cognitive domain. The course also addresses competency-based approaches to course design and development. The approach used in the course will be reflected in the materials developed to guide the course development process. In its design, this course also models the processes to be followed in each phase of course development using the instructional project management approach.

LEARNING TO ADD TOPIC

The Essentials of Online Course Design

Essentials of Online Assessment enables participants to develop skills in online assessment , (both asynchronous and synchronous) in order to provide quality learning experiences to adult learners through timely and effective assessment and evaluation experiences. Participants will explore various types of assessment, how to create effective online assessments and rubrics and as well as strategies for providing effective feedback.

This course contains materials to support your learning post the COL-SALISES 3 day workshop.

This course introduces learners to the online environment and enables them to learn effectively in this environment.

This "Online Learner Orientation" Course is a self-study orientation programme introducing first-time online learners users to the online environment at UWI. It is the first course that all UWI  online users should complete before they begin their first academic online course.

The Essentials of Online Facilitation will help you to develop skills in online facilitation, (both asynchronous and synchronous) so that you can provide quality learning experiences to adult learners. We will explore the main roles and responsibilities of the online facilitator, and apply strategies for online assessment and provision of effective feedback to your courses.  You will also develop skills in promoting online interactivity, developing online presence and managing faculty workload.
